Hon. Amelia Kyambadde, the Minister of Trade, Industry and Cooperatives has handed over 240 motorized spray pumps worth over UGX 500m to farmers in Teso region to assist them in spraying their fruit trees. The spray pumps which were provided by Government through Uganda Development Corporation (UDC), were officially handed over to the chairperson of Teso Tropival Fruit Farmers Union (TEFCU) Jorem Opian at the Soroti fruit factory in Arapai sub county. He minister also inaugurated the 7 member board of Soroti fruits Ltd, the company that manages the factory. In preparation for the opening of the factory, Uganda Development Corporation, has resumed refresher trainings for farmers mainly in pest and disease control, oust harvest handling, quality management etc.
