Uganda- Somalia Investment and Business Summit
The Republic of Uganda and the government of the Federal Republic of Somalia signed a Memorandum of Understanding for Bilateral Cooperation at the concluded Uganda-Somalia Investment and Business Summit held in Kampala, Munyonyo. In the MOU, the Republic of Uganda and the Federal Republic of Somalia committed to jointly & individually undertake measures aimed at improving bilateral trade relations & flows between them with specific interest in agricultural products. Products under this cooperation include : Agricultural products like coffee,Avacado,Pineapples,Sugar,Frankisence,Arabic gum and Sesame oil.Also included are Marine /Sea foods,Animal products,industrial products and services. …
BUBU Expo 2022 held
The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Cooperatives held the BUBU Expo 2022 at the Kololo Ceremonial grounds.The Expo ran for 3 days from 6th to 8th May under the theme,”Changing mindsets and building awareness about BUBU brands.” The expo brought about different MDAs, Industrialists, MSMEs who exhibited Ugandan products. Hon.Bahati calls for increased participation of Africa in global trade
The Minister of State for Industry, Hon. David Bahati has called for increased participation of African countries in global trade if prosperity for all is to be achieved. Bahati noted that the current global trade of over $18 trillion Africa contribution is less than 3% while intra Africa trade is less than 16% compared to intra EU trade 67%, North America 58% and Latin America 20%. The Minister made the remarks at the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD15), where he delivered Uganda’s Statement on Wednesday 6th October 2021 on the topic; “Reshaping Global and Regional Value Chains”. …
LAUNCH OF THE CONSTRUCTION OF BUSIA BORDER EXPORT ZONE
Busia Border Export Zone construction has been launched by Hon.Amelia Kyambadde Minister for Trade Industry and Cooperatives.In her remarks,the minister mentioned that exports to Kenya through Busia and Malaba majorly comprise of agricultural produce (beans, maize, millet, sugar, fish, and banana and industrial products).
