The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Cooperatives (MTIC) has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening Uganda’s salon and beauty industry through structured policy support, following a stakeholder meeting with the Federation of Uganda Salons and Beauty Professionals (FUSPro). FUSPro, which currently unites over 120,000 professionals and 19,000 salons, presented its progress in skills development, value addition, waste management, and promotion of organic beauty products. The Ministry staff led by the Comissioner BDQA Dr Joshua Mutambi accompanied a COMESA delegation for incredible visit to the Kawumu Tannery, a government owned state-of-the-art leather factory in Kawumu village, Luweero district. Launch of the Uganda’s second armored vehicle manufacturing and assembly plant
H.E President Y.K. Museveni launched the the second armored vehicle manufacturing and assembly plant. This is a partnership between the National Enterprise Corporation (NEC) and the Streit Group. The plant was commissioned in Nakasongola. The plant is to produce vehicles for Uganda’s military, police VIPs and Regional requirements. The partnership between Uganda People Defence Force- UPDF’s NEC and Streit Group will benefit Uganda in many other ways including technology transfer, local capacity building among others.
