Meeting on Escalating Sugar Prices
On Friday 12th May 2017, the Minister of Trade, Industry and Cooperatives Hon. Amelia Kyambadde officially briefed the press together with the leaders of sugar Manufacturers Associations on the increasing sugar Prices and government position on the same. The press briefing followed a meeting with the Sugar distributors, wholesalers,retailers and the sugar millers. On Thursday 11th May 2017, Hon. Amelia Kyambadde met the EU Ambassador/Head of Delegation to Uganda Ambassador Kristian Schmidt at the Ministry of Trade Industry and cooperatives. The meeting highlighted the progress on the EPA negotiations, Uganda trade relations with the EU, exports, job creation, women rights and emancipation. On Wednesday 10th May 2017, Hon. Amelia Kyambadde the Minister of Trade Industry and cooperatives attended Dinner with the Swedish business community in Uganda at the residence of the Swedish ambassador in Uganda. The dinner brought together Swedish companies in Uganda and Ugandans doing business in Sweden. Issues raised to the minister included issues on difficulties in accessing finance, delays in clearing at URA,need for incentives for the local investors and need for clearer tax information. Launch of Rice Millers Council of Uganda
