The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Cooperatives and Uganda National Bureau of Standards inaugurated the 9th National Standards Council. Uganda has deployed Mr. Latim Nyeko as a commercial attaché to Uganda’s Mission in Ankara Turkey. The Republic of Uganda and the government of the Federal Republic of Somalia signed a Memorandum of Understanding for Bilateral Cooperation at the concluded Uganda-Somalia Investment and Business Summit held in Kampala, Munyonyo. In the MOU, the Republic of Uganda and the Federal Republic of Somalia committed to jointly & individually undertake measures aimed at improving bilateral trade relations & flows between them with specific interest in agricultural products. Launch of the Uganda’s second armored vehicle manufacturing and assembly plant
H.E President Y.K. Museveni launched the the second armored vehicle manufacturing and assembly plant. This is a partnership between the National Enterprise Corporation (NEC) and the Streit Group. The plant was commissioned in Nakasongola. The plant is to produce vehicles for Uganda’s military, police VIPs and Regional requirements. The partnership between Uganda People Defence Force- UPDF’s NEC and Streit Group will benefit Uganda in many other ways including technology transfer, local capacity building among others. The President also emphasised that this will lead to import substitution where importation of armored vehicles will become history. …
