The Ministry Of Trade Industry and Cooperatives under the DICOSS Project is holding a networking Conference for District Commercial Officers.

The Conference has attracted District Commercial Officers,Assistant District Commercial Officers and District Production Officers from Forty Districts.

The specific objectives are:

(i) Improving the business service delivery at the district and local government.

(ii) The participants in this networking conference will consider sustainability aspects of commercial services in the districts.

(iii) The other commercial services aspects that will be considered are those relating to :

• What is expected of the DCOS in handling the grants to be given to them in the next financial year.
• The relationship between URSB and the districts and how they can help formalize businesses at the district level.
• The issues related to the trade licencing amendments.
• The role of DCOs in improving exports in the country and utilization of trade information centers for export.
• Discussions on how the LED programme is being implemented and how DCOs can contribute to its implementation.
• Highlights of the cooperative societies amendment in view of the revival and strengthening of cooperatives in the country.
