Minister for Trade Amelia Kyambadde has asked the police chief Lt. Gen. Kale Kayihura, and his counterpart in South Sudan, Gen. Deng Tieng to expeditiously address the security concerns on the Nimule-Juba highway following the recent killing of two Ugandans.

Addressing a joint press conference with South Sudan Ambassador to Uganda Samuel Luate Lominsuk in Kampala on Saturday, Ms Kyambadde expressed concern that if the security of Ugandan traders is not guaranteed, trade between the two countries will greatly be affected.

Dicoss under MTIC organised a quartely networking Confrence for District commercial officers.

The conference run from 18th-19th April 2013.

The main objective of the conference was  to facilitate the DCOs to establish between themselves and stakeholders strategic networks and linkages in order to improve their perfomance in delivering  commercial and business services in their areas of jurisdiction;

On 14th February 2013,the Ministry of trade industry and cooperatives handed over office equipment to five pilot districs and a motor vehicle to UNBS.

Hon. Amelia Kyambadde, Minister of Trade, Industry and Cooperatives, and the Head of Delegation, Delegation of the European Union in Uganda,presided over the handover ceremony.

Throughout the two days meeting,the ambassadors were encouraged to sell Uganda abroad as an investment destination.

The theme of the meeting was

Enhancing Trade and Investment through Implementing   Uganda’s Economic and Commercial Diplomacy

The different departments presented their activities and plans to them.
